What a week!

OH it was a great week filled with lots of moving!

The KG1 kids were busy skipping, hopping, jumping, and galloping. At the end of the week they finished with a fun movement obstacle course. Ask them what their favorite part of the course was.

KG2 started the week with and obstacle course and finished with yarn balls and bean bags. We were throwing catching and balancing all over the movement and music room. Ask your child what their favorite thing to do with the yarn ball was!

Well my stats on my blog said I had some 50 people look at my blog, but I only had about 5 people comment. Please leave me a comment and let me know what your child is doing to stay active on the weekend or what they told you they did this week.

Next week we will continue to practice our balancing and our jumping! I will be asking your child how they can balance, and where they can balance...

Here is a video of the kids who got to play with scooters this week. Thanks mom and dad for commenting on the blog!

Have a great weekend!

U11 girls soccer

I am not only the movement and music teacher I am also coaching the U11 girls soccer team here at GAA. We were supposed to have a game last Monday but the team never showed up, automatic win for us! They heard how good we are and got scared I bet :)

This past Monday at our practice a coach from the Manchester United school came to help us on some of our basic soccer skills. We want to say Thank you to Chris who did a great job teaching us how to dribble, pass, and play like the Manchester United players do. We have a game next week and we hope to use the skills Chris gave us to get a real win!

"do this, do that" "oh don't do that"

What did you do this weekend?

This weekend I went for a 90 min bike ride around Abu Dhabi. I always wear a helmet and ride on sidewalks to be safe. I waited till it got cooler at night because its still a little hot during the day, I thought it was cooling down? I also did some swimming this weekend which was a good way to cool off.

I already got some messages from parents whose child is in KG1B! They have been doing a great job listening lately and controlling their bodies. Not only did they get to go in the big gym for the first time last week but they will get to play with the scooters this week for having so many of them comment on the blog. Which class will be next?

I asked KG2 C today what they did this weekend here were some of their activities: Basketball, swimming, and walking.

If there anymore of you out there who were moving and grooving leave me a comment and let me know!

What is movement and music?

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the movement and music blog! I am very excited to start a blog to let everyone know what is going on in movement and music. I love the idea of a blog because its a easy and sustainable way to let parents now what is going on. I also would like to give you and your family physical activity challenges to do during the week to help motivate the whole family to get up and moving instead of sitting in front of a tv or computer screen all weekend.

This weekends challenge is to get up and moving outside. Leave a comment on this post to let me know what you and your family did outside this week! The first 5 student families to comment on this post their class will get a special prize in movement and music next week!

Stay tuned for next week to see what 5 classes got a special prize!
